DICK’S Sporting Goods Open Announces Special Guest

Tommy Morrissey’s One Arm Challenge to be held during Pro-Am Event

ENDICOTT, NY – The DICK’S Sporting Goods Open is excited to welcome six-year old Tommy Morrissey to the 2017 DICK’S Sporting Goods Open to participate in his famous One Arm Challenge, a closest to the pin contest using just one arm.

Tommy will participate in the 2017 Pro-Am at the DICK’S Sporting Goods Open to be held on Wednesday August 16th and Thursday August 17th.  The One Arm Challenge will be presented by the Shamrock 5 Foundation.

Tommy was born without a right arm, but grew up emulating the professionals he saw on television, developing a right-handed swing using just his left arm.  The six-year old has never taken a golf lesson but is a confirmed scratch golfer, consistently placing in the top two positions of his local and state tournaments.

He recently performed his One Arm Challenge at the Honda Classic, beating 48 out of 60 Professionals he was pitted against. Tommy has been featured in People Magazine, Golf Digest twice, and has appeared on the Ellen DeGeneres Show.

“We have heard a lot about what Tommy can do and can’t wait to see him at work here at the En-Joie Golf Course,” said Tournament Director John Karedes.

The 2017 DICK’S Sporting Goods Open will be hosted at En-Joie Golf Course in Endicott, NY August 14th – 20th.   Weekly ticket packages are available at DICK’S Sporting Goods stores or online at www.dsgopen.com.  For additional information, please call the Tournament Office at (607) 205-1500.
