Tom Lehman, Bernhard Langer amount early commitments for The DICK'S Sporting Goods Open at En-Joie

The Dick’s Sporting Goods Open has secured commitments from Tom Lehman, winner of the last two Charles Schwab Cups, as well as the top 10 players on the present Champions Tour earnings list.

A seven-time Champions Tour winner, Lehman shared third place at En-Joie Golf Course last year on rounds of 69-68-67. He tied for 15th here in 2011, a season in which he won three times by mid-May.

The seventh edition of the Dick’s Open will be contested Aug. 16-18.

The money list’s top 10 who’ve committed: Bernhard Langer, David Frost, John Cook, Tom Pernice Jr., Rocco Mediate, Esteban Toledo, Michael Allen, Gene Sauers, Jeff Sluman and Mark O’Meara.

Langer sits atop the list on the strength of wins in the ACE Group Classic and Greater Gwinnett Championship — bringing his 50-and-over victory total to 18. At age 55, he shared 25th place last month in the Masters.

Toledo, B.C. Open runner-up in 2000, became the first Mexican to win on the Champions Tour when he emerged victoriously from an Insperity Championship playoff May 5. That marked his fourth top-seven finish in a five-event stretch.

Allen, winner of last month’s Mississippi Golf Resort Classic, was bested by Willie Wood in a playoff last summer at En-Joie after the two matched 13-under-par, 54-hole totals.
